KARACHI – Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has stated that resolving the issues faced by minority communities is a top priority for the Sindh government. He emphasized that serving the public without any discrimination remains the fundamental manifesto of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of minority town and city councillors belonging to the PPP. The delegation was led by Lal Chand Ukrani, President of the PPP Minority Wing Sindh, while Sukkur Mayor Arslan Sheikh and MPA Asif Musa were also present.
During the meeting, the minority representatives provided a detailed briefing on the challenges in their respective areas, specifically highlighting issues related to water supply, sewage system improvements, construction and repair of streets, installation of street lights, and sanitation services. The councillors also voiced concerns regarding a lack of cooperation from certain Town Chairmen, demanding that minority councillors be empowered at the local level and that development funds be distributed equitably.
Taking immediate notice of these complaints, the Provincial Minister issued telephonic instructions to the relevant Town Chairmen and clarified that areas with minority populations would not be neglected in any upcoming development schemes. He further directed all councillors to submit a prioritized list of ongoing and proposed development projects in their areas to the Local Government Department to ensure the phased release of funds.
