Mir Raza Murder Case: Karachi Police Surgeon Exposes Severe Autopsy Flaws

KARACHI: The Karachi Police Surgeon has raised 14 major objections regarding the initial post-mortem report of Mir Raza Ali Khan, who was murdered in Karachi last week. In an official letter sent to SSP East, Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed highlighted critical scientific and procedural lapses in the July 29, 2026 report, stating that it raises more questions than answers.

The key lapses identified in the report include the complete omission of X-ray imaging, failure to collect hand swabs for gunshot residue (GSR), and a lack of chemical analysis for powder burns at entry wounds. Furthermore, the internal examination of the skull and neck was omitted, and the gunshot wounds lacked proper scientific measurements, forensic-grade photography, and clear entry and exit wound interpretations. The internal trajectory of the bullets was left unexplained, the decomposition process across body parts was poorly documented, and no DNA samples were collected for positive identification despite unrecognized identification markers.

Addressing the administrative and future steps, Dr. Summaiya noted that attempts to contact senior Sindh Police officials via WhatsApp groups and private messages went unanswered. Emphasizing a logical and scientific review, the surgeon suggested that exhumation should be considered if these discrepancies remain unaddressed, while an explanation has also been formally sought from the medico-legal officer, Dr. Osama Sheikh.
