MQM-P Bahadurabad Clash: State-Imposed FIR Registered After Aerial Firing and Rioting at Temporary Headquarters

KARACHI: A formal First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at the New Town Police Station following a violent clash and aerial firing incident involving two groups of workers at MQM-Pakistan’s temporary headquarters in Bahadurabad. Filed on behalf of the state, the case targets 20 to 25 unidentified individuals under strict legal provisions, including attempted murder, terrorism, rioting, and property damage, while police exercised extreme caution by omitting specific political group names from the official FIR.

During the incident, three individuals—Aamir, Asad, and Kashif Ali—sustained injuries and were initially rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, though they later left against medical advice, preventing police from recording their statements. While the FIR text notes the involvement of individuals identified as Azhar (alias Lamba) and Zeeshan Habib alongside unidentified accomplices, the violence triggered widespread panic in the neighborhood and violated the Sindh government’s Section 144 imposition against weapon display and rioting. The investigation has now been officially transferred to the Investigation Police wing.
