Maulana Tariq Jamil Warns Declining Home Cooking Endangers Marital Harmony

KARACHI: Renowned Pakistani religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil has raised serious concerns over the declining trend of home cooking among women, describing it as an unnatural shift that poses a major threat to marital harmony and family health. Appearing on Dr. Affan Qaiser’s YouTube podcast, he emphasized that abandoning traditional home-cooked meals disrupts natural lifestyles and negatively impacts human behavior. Referencing North American healthcare data from his 1998 visit to the United States—which highlighted massive expenditures on antidepressant medications—he noted a direct correlation between artificial diets and psychological distress.

Elaborating on the consequences, he explained that the shift toward fast food and processed meals fosters irritability, anger, and impatience, ultimately straining marital relationships while simultaneously diminishing men’s physical strength, vitality, and overall health. Warning that homes where kitchen stoves remain cold invite illness, he noted that reliance on outside food primarily benefits the medical industry at the expense of public well-being. To counter these issues, he strongly advocated for a return to traditional diets, emphasizing the use of pure desi ghee and fresh, home-cooked meals to ensure both physical health and domestic stability.
