KARACHI: NADRA has introduced a special, time-bound procedure enabling citizens without a birth certificate to obtain their National Identity Card (CNIC) until December 31, 2026. Under the eligibility criteria, married women aged 18 and above can apply using a computerized marriage certificate (Nikah Nama) by visiting a NADRA center accompanied by a parent, husband, or NICOP holder for biometric verification. Applications are also permissible if parents or a spouse have passed away, provided their records exist in the NADRA database, and unmarried women are exempt from spousal requirements. Meanwhile, unmarried men aged 24 and above are eligible if they lack a prior CNIC and have at least one sibling with an existing CNIC or NICOP, requiring them to visit the center with a parent or a CNIC-holding sibling if parents are deceased. Applicants will undergo family history verification at the center, and because printed details such as parental information, date of birth, and place of birth cannot be altered later, accurate data submission is mandatory.
