KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration department successfully intercepted an attempt to travel abroad using forged documents at Jinnah International Airport, officials confirmed on Friday.
The Incident
According to an FIA spokesperson, a female passenger bound for Oman was intercepted during the immigration clearance process. The traveler was attempting to fly on a ‘Relative Joining Visa’. Suspicion arose when immigration officers requested her marriage documents for verification. During the initial interview, officials noted significant contradictions in her statements regarding her spouse and the legality of her marriage.
Key Revelations
During questioning, the woman admitted that she was not legally married to the individual named in her documents, Muhammad Rehan. She confessed that the marriage certificate provided was “arranged” and fake, prepared solely to meet the requirements for the Omani visa. Furthermore, the passenger revealed she had used an agent to procure the fraudulent documents to facilitate her travel.
Current Status
The FIA has seized the fake marriage certificate, the Oman ID card, and other suspicious travel documents. The passenger has been offloaded, and her mobile phone and records have been transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle (AHTC) Karachi for further legal action and investigation.
