KARACHI: A District and Sessions Court in Karachi has reserved its verdict on the bail applications filed by the alleged facilitators of the primary accused, Anmol alias Pinky.
According to the police, the suspects—identified as Sohail-ur-Rehman and Zeeshan-ur-Rehman—were allegedly involved in laundering the illicit funds generated by Anmol. Investigators revealed that after the primary accused’s bank accounts were frozen, financial transactions were continuously routed through these suspects with the assistance of an accomplice named Sameer.
Key Investigations by Police
The police stated that the compromised bank accounts were used to make payments for raw materials utilized in drug manufacturing, and funds transferred to Sohail and Zeeshan’s accounts were reportedly used to purchase various real estate properties. Investigations further disclosed that Anmol’s younger brother, Nasir, has maintained a connection with Sameer since 2016.
The Defense Argument
Contrarily, the defense counsel vehemently denied the allegations, stating that Sohail-ur-Rehman and Zeeshan-ur-Rehman have no connection whatsoever with Sameer. The counsel argued that the bail applications were filed strictly in accordance with the original First Information Report (FIR), claiming that the police’s additional allegations were tacked onto the case at a later stage as an afterthought.
Current Status
The police have announced that a formal money laundering case will also be registered against the suspects as further investigations remain underway. After hearing detailed arguments from both sides, the court reserved its judgment on the bail pleas.
