KARACHI: Significant developments have emerged in the drug trafficking and murder cases involving notorious drug dealer Anmol, alias Pinky, currently being heard at the District and Sessions Court South.
Drug Case: Decision on Facilitators’ Bail Deferred
The court heard a narcotics case registered against Anmol alias Pinky by the Garden Police Station. During the proceedings, the court deferred its decision on the bail applications filed by the accused’s alleged facilitators, Sohail-ur-Rehman and Zeeshan.
The ruling was postponed until tomorrow due to the leave of the learned judge.
Defense counsel argued that their clients, Sohail and Zeeshan, have no connection to the illegal activities of Anmol alias Pinky. However, police maintained that a formal case stands registered against them at the Garden Police Station for facilitating the drug operations.
Murder Case: Police Submit Flawed Interim Charge-Sheet
In a parallel development, the police submitted an interim charge-sheet (chalan) in a related murder case against Anmol Pinky.
The interim charge-sheet lists the complainant, the medical examiner who inspected the body, the ambulance driver, and the police officer who registered the First Information Report (FIR) as official witnesses. However, the Deputy District Public Prosecutor pointed out severe loopholes and errors in the submitted interim document. Responding to these objections, the investigating officer assured the court that all anomalies and mistakes identified by the prosecution would be rectified in the final charge-sheet.
Case Background
The murder investigation stems from an incident on April 7, when an unidentified body was recovered from the Baghdadi area. According to police, the deceased was suspected of procuring drugs from Anmol alias Pinky, and initial investigations suggest the individual died from a drug overdose, implicating Pinky in the death.
