KARACHI: In a significant move to strengthen Pakistan’s maritime links, a new regular feeder shipping service has been officially launched from Karachi Port to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Mohammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, announced that the service will connect the Karachi Gateway Terminal (KGTL) directly with the UAE ports of Fujairah and Khor Fakkan. He described this development as a major milestone toward establishing Karachi as a transshipment hub.
This new service provides Pakistani importers and exporters with enhanced access to international shipping networks and is set to significantly improve Karachi Port’s connectivity with major regional maritime centers. Furthermore, the initiative is expected to streamline and stabilize Pakistan’s national supply chain.
The Minister confirmed that the first feeder ship has already arrived at the Karachi Gateway Terminal. He also lauded the efforts of KGTL CEO Khurram Aziz for his pivotal role in making this project a reality. Adding to the sentiment, Chairman KPT Rear Admiral Shahid Ahmed noted that integrating with the UAE’s advanced logistics network will provide a competitive edge to Pakistani trade, fostering economic growth through more efficient maritime routes.
