Container Collapses onto Cars on Karachi’s M.A. Jinnah Road, Occupants Remain Safe

KARACHI: A major accident occurred on M.A. Jinnah Road on Friday when a heavy shipping container fell onto two passenger vehicles, causing significant structural damage but fortunately resulting in no loss of life.

The Incident According to police reports cited by ARY News, the mishap was triggered by two buses racing recklessly on the main artery. One of the speeding buses reportedly collided with the stationary container, causing it to tip over and crush two nearby cars.

Safety Update Police officials confirmed that despite the severity of the impact on the vehicles, all occupants remained safe and were rescued without any major injuries.

Background The containers had been placed on M.A. Jinnah Road earlier this week to block routes for the Youm-e-Ali procession. While the road was recently reopened for traffic, the containers had been moved to the roadsides rather than being completely removed from the area.

Current Situation Heavy machinery has been summoned to the site to lift the container and clear the wreckage. Traffic flow on M.A. Jinnah Road remains affected as the recovery operation continues.
