KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has lashed out at political opponents, challenging them to take their grievances to the floor of the Provincial Assembly rather than resorting to baseless criticism. Speaking at the Sindh Assembly Media Corner, Memon addressed several key issues ranging from national security to provincial development.
Exposure of Indian Proxy War The Senior Minister categorically blamed India for orchestrating terrorist activities within Pakistan. India is involved in terrorism and is conducting attacks in Pakistan through its proxies, Memon stated. He further revealed that fake accounts were being utilized to spread religious discord across the country. He sent a clear message to external enemies, asserting that Pakistan is fully prepared to give a befitting response to any cowardly acts of aggression.
Critique of MQM and Jamaat-e-Islami Directing his focus toward local political rivals, Sharjeel Memon criticized the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) for what he termed the politics of criticism. He questioned why these parties remain silent when tragic incidents occur in other provinces but target the Sindh government at every opportunity. Referring to recent strike calls, he mocked the timing, noting that calling for a strike on a Sunday is redundant. Highlighting the Fire Department’s performance, he noted that 1,055 fire incidents were successfully managed in Karachi, asking rhetorically who else but the provincial administration extinguished those fires.
Sindh: A Hub of Peace and Development Countering the narrative of instability, Memon highlighted recent international events hosted in Karachi. The Sindh Assembly recently hosted a historic Commonwealth program, sending a message of peace to the world. Successful events like ‘My Karachi’ and the ‘Defense Expo’ prove that the city remains a global hub for business and security cooperation. He also noted that a World Bank delegation recently lauded the Sindh government’s initiatives.
Housing and Infrastructure The Minister concluded by highlighting that the Sindh government is currently executing the world’s largest housing project for flood affectees and remains committed to completing all urban development projects on schedule.
