CM Sindh Announces 10 Centers of Excellence for Persons with Disabilities Across All Divisions

KARACHI – Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to improving the quality of life for persons with disabilities (PWDs), stating that empowerment through skill development, education, and employment remains a top priority.

Speaking at the NOWPDP Graduation Ceremony 2024-25 held in Korangi on Tuesday, the Chief Minister highlighted the province’s strides toward inclusivity. The event was attended by Secretary DEP&D Taha Farooqui, NOWPDP President Amin Hashwani, CEO Umair Ahmed, and other officials.

Key Highlights of the Announcement

The Sindh government is in the process of setting up 10 Centers of Excellence across all divisions of the province to provide specialized support and training. Under the ‘Hunar-mand’ program, over 4,200 PWDs have completed vocational training, with more than 1,700 individuals successfully placed in jobs across 22 different industries.

The CM also noted that one out of every three graduates in the program is a woman with a disability, showcasing a strong focus on gender balance. Currently, over 500 children with special needs are enrolled in five specialized government schools across Sindh.

“Empowering persons with disabilities is not just a social duty but a core pillar of our governance,” said Murad Ali Shah, emphasizing that the provincial government will continue to expand its partnership with organizations like NOWPDP to reach every corner of Sindh.
