KARACHI: The STEM Expo 2026 was successfully held at Jinnah Government College, Nazimabad, bringing together students from over 300 public and private schools across Karachi and interior Sindh.
Event Overview
The expo was organized under the supervision of Ghulam Hussain Soho, Chairman of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK), in collaboration with the Private Schools Management Organization (OPSM) and other leading school associations. The event served as a platform for young innovators to display their scientific and creative projects.
Key Highlights and Dignitaries
The Secretary of the Universities and Boards Department, Mohammad Abbas Baloch, attended as the Chief Guest. During his visit to various stalls, he praised the students’ ingenuity, stating that such programs are essential to boost student confidence and provide a stage for them to showcase their hidden talents. He emphasized that these events should be held annually.
Chairman BSEK, Ghulam Hussain Soho, described the expo as more than just an exhibition. He termed it a “National Educational Movement” aimed at fostering research, practical experience, and creative thinking. He highlighted the event as a significant step toward educational reform and innovation in the province.
Participants and Support
The event saw a high-profile attendance, including Secretary BSEK Dr. Naveed Ahmed, Controller of Examinations Mohammad Zia-ul-Haq, Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs), and representatives from the Sindh Technical Board and various educational institutions.
Meraj Siddiqui, head of OPSM, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting the Matric Board in promoting co-curricular activities at every level.
Recognition of Excellence
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of shields among the participants. To further encourage the young scientists, cash prizes were announced for the students securing the first, second, and third positions.
