Committee members grilled police officials over delays in legal proceedings, registered FIRs, and potential hindrances in the investigation, ultimately deciding to form a special committee to thoroughly review the case details and jail custody visits.
Beyond the Pinky case, the session addressed broader law and order challenges in Karachi, including a surge in mobile and motorcycle snatching and the illegal sale of stolen vehicle parts to scrap dealers. During the briefing, the IG Sindh revealed that drug manufacturing factories have been established in Balochistan, prompting the committee to direct authorities to launch comprehensive awareness campaigns in educational institutions regarding the hazards of drug abuse. Additionally, a lighthearted moment occurred during the lengthy proceedings when a senior police officer dozed off and had to be woken up publicly via microphone.
