KARACHI: Sindh Minister For Local Government, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Has Directed Authorities To Launch A Comprehensive Special Cleanliness Campaign Across The City To Further Upgrade The Urban Sanitation System. Chairing A High-Level Review Meeting, The Minister Emphasized That The Drive Must Ensure The Complete Removal Of Both Municipal Garbage And Construction Debris, While Stressing The Need To Establish A Robust, Permanent Mechanism Involving All Relevant Local Bodies To Prevent The Illegal Dumping Of Debris On Roads And Vacant Plots, Along With A Warning Of Strict Legal Action Against Violators.
Key developments from the meeting include the expansion of sanitation operations to Shaheed Benazirabad and Mirpurkhas, where feasibility studies and land surveys are currently in their final stages, and the development of a sustainable framework by the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) focusing on recycling plants, waste-to-energy initiatives, and operational cost reduction. Additionally, enhanced enforcement measures have been implemented, including the registration of FIRs against individuals illegally dumping waste and the deployment of officers during night shifts at landfill sites for strict operational monitoring.
