KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has expressed severe anger over the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) for failing to comply with court orders regarding the regularization of two visually impaired siblings.
During a hearing before the constitutional bench of the SHC, the court issued a show-cause notice to the Director General (DG) of KDA for non-compliance and directed him to implement the court’s orders within one week.
The counsel for the petitioners, Usman Farooq Advocate, argued that the court had previously ordered the KDA to regularize the siblings—Saima and Mujtaba—under the disabled quota. He informed the court that both individuals were initially hired on a contract basis and had served the department for two to three years.
Under the mandatory disabled quota, both siblings were supposed to be regularized. Instead, KDA not only ignored the permanent hiring orders but also terminated their existing contracts.
The court has demanded an immediate response from the KDA chief regarding this negligence.
