KARACHI – The mystery surrounding a “Satanic-looking” statue recovered from a shop in Karachi’s Mehran Town has been solved, following a swift investigation by the Korangi Industrial Area police.
Police Action and Investigation
The issue came to light after a video of the eerie statue went viral on social media, sparking concern among citizens. Taking immediate notice, the police raided the shop and moved the statue to the police station for further inspection. While the shopkeeper was not present during the initial raid, the police later apprehended the craftsman responsible for creating the figure.
The Reality Behind the Statue
Upon interrogation, the craftsman, identified as Imran, clarified that the statue was not for any cult-like activity but was a political prop. He informed the authorities that the statue was made of Thermocol and had been commissioned by a religious scholar to be used during Youm-ul-Quds rallies. According to Imran, the scholar intended to set the effigy on fire during a Friday protest as a symbolic gesture of defiance.
Outcome
After recording the explanatory statement and verifying the details, the police released the craftsman. The authorities confirmed that the figure was purely an effigy intended for a protest demonstration and not related to any mysterious or illegal activity.
