KARACHI: Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has officially inaugurated the “Salam Karachi Festival,” a grand city-wide celebration running from August 25 to September 7, 2026. Designed to promote community spirit and cultural vibrancy, the festival features a packed schedule of sports, food, musical nights, and family events across various iconic locations in the city.
Festival Overview and Schedule
The festival kicks off on August 25 at Frere Hall with a Grand Bazaar, cultural dance shows, and women’s stalls, followed on August 26 by a high-energy bike rally stretching from the Airport to Metropole. Continuing the celebrations, August 27 brings a free-entry family festival, talent hunt, and musical night at Safari Park, which is followed on August 28 by a cycling rally from Sea View to Do Darya featuring diverse public activities. The culinary spirit of the city takes center stage on August 29 with the Salam Karachi Food Festival at Burns Road, leading into vibrant road shows and musical performances at Teen Talwar on August 30 and a major marathon along Sea View on August 31.
Moving into September, the festival blends academia and entertainment by hosting seminars and prestigious award ceremonies at NED University on September 1 and Sir Syed University on September 3, with a lively family festival held at Port Grand on September 2. The momentum continues with a Family Musical and Kids Festival back at Safari Park on September 4, and dynamic road shows and musical performances along Sharea Faisal on September 5. The festivities approach their culmination on September 6 with a special car rally at Sea View dedicated to Defence Day, ultimately wrapping up on September 7 with a grand closing ceremony that features an exclusive award show and musical program honoring the dedicated staff of KMC and TMC.
