KARACHI: Families of the victims of the K2 Airways plane crash—which occurred on July 7 near Ormara, Balochistan—have expressed strong reservations regarding the ongoing investigation. They are demanding a comprehensive audit covering the airline’s operational history, management practices, aircraft maintenance records, and the decision to keep the aircraft continuously operational prior to the crash.
Critical Investigation Gaps
The aggrieved families emphasized that the airline management has failed to provide clear assurances regarding assistance in recovering the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) and Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR). They insist that recovering both black boxes is vital to determining the root cause of the accident. While acknowledging the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for assisting with documentation and death certificates, they noted that overall updates regarding the investigation progress remain critically limited.
Delays in Compensation & Financial Relief
More than three months after the tragedy, legal heirs and families of the deceased flight crew report complete silence regarding insurance payouts, financial dues, and official compensation. Despite repeated phone calls, messages, and emails, the airline management has failed to provide a clear timeline or satisfactory response regarding the initiation of insurance claims.
