KARACHI: The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has installed an advanced surveillance system across the runway area of Jinnah Terminal in Karachi to ensure round-the-clock monitoring of airfield operations. Equipped with high-tech low-light and night-vision capabilities, the new camera network provides clear visibility of aircraft parking, movement, and surrounding perimeters during nighttime and low-visibility conditions.
According to PAA officials, this upgrade significantly strengthens security infrastructure by enabling the real-time detection of suspicious activities and improving overall management of flight operations. Additionally, the airside department will now receive immediate alerts regarding wildlife presence on or near the runways during takeoffs and landings, marking a vital step toward modernizing aviation safety and security standards at the airport.
