IG Sindh Javed Alam Odho Inaugrates State-of-the-Art Security Division Sports Arena

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Javed Alam Odho, officially inaugurated the newly constructed Security Division Sports Arena at the Security Division Headquarters. Upon his arrival, he was warmly received by Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan and DIG Security & Emergency Services Division Dr. Maqsood Ahmed, along with a formal guard of honor presented by a specialized Special Security Unit (SSU) contingent. The prestigious ceremony was attended by senior police officers, former IGPs, foreign consuls general, and diplomatic representatives from various countries.

Designed to foster physical fitness, mental resilience, and healthy recreation, this modern arena features state-of-the-art courts for badminton, padel, and volleyball. The facility is tailored to provide international-standard training to police personnel, helping them prepare for both national and international sports competitions. Speaking at the event, DIG Security Dr. Maqsood Ahmed emphasized that the sports arena operates as an inclusive space where rank distinctions are set aside, allowing officers and junior personnel to play, train, and build strong camaraderie together. Additionally, a specialized refreshment point has been established within the venue to offer fresh juices and healthy beverages, actively encouraging a nutritious lifestyle among the force.

Addressing the gathering, IGP Javed Alam Odho commended DIG Dr. Maqsood Ahmed and his team for translating an ambitious vision into a world-class facility, praising it as one of the finest sports infrastructure projects established within any police department in the country. Highlighted during the address was the vital link between physical wellness and effective policing, alongside notable achievements by the Sindh Police in improving law and order. Recent operational statistics reveal a nearly 23 percent reduction in homicide cases, an 11.8 percent decrease in street crime, the arrest of over 230 dangerous criminals during organized crime crackdowns, and significant control established in Katcha areas. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of commemorative shields to the IGP Sindh and Additional IG Karachi in recognition of their leadership and service.
