KARACHI – In a significant move to decentralize advanced healthcare, the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) formally inaugurated the Late Bashir Ahmed Siddiqui Hospital Block at its Malir branch on Monday. The ceremony was attended by prominent figures including MNA Abdul Hakeem Baloch, MPA Muhammad Saleem Baloch, and Director of GIMS Hospital, Captain (R) Dr. Rahim Bux Bhatti.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Rahim Bux Bhatti detailed the clinical roadmap for the facility, announcing that the Basic Outpatient Department (OPD) and specialized clinics focusing on Bone Marrow, Liver, and Gastroenterology will become fully operational within the next few days. Under the new setup, expert doctors will conduct free check-ups for patients in Malir. The hospital is already equipped with modern machinery where CT scans, Ultrasound, X-rays, and laboratory services are functional. For patients requiring complex surgeries, GIMS will facilitate their transfer to Gambat, where all procedures remain 100% free of cost.
MNA Abdul Hakeem Baloch termed the project a milestone, stating that it fulfills the promise of providing high-quality healthcare at the doorstep of the local community. MPA Muhammad Saleem Baloch also lauded the initiative as a revolutionary step, highlighting that the availability of organ transplant consultations in Malir will significantly reduce the travel burden on patients from Karachi and surrounding rural areas.
According to hospital authorities, this project is part of a broader policy to provide localized healthcare, ensuring that low-income families have easy access to modern treatments. The event concluded with participants praising the collaboration between the Sindh Government and GIMS as a vital leap forward for public welfare.
