KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Commercial Banks Circle (CBC) Karachi has arrested three suspects and recovered 7.5 million rupees in a major crackdown against illegal hundi, hawala, and banking fraud networks. In the first operation in Saddar, the FIA arrested suspects Hussain and Tanveer, seizing digital evidence of illicit cross-border money transfers alongside 7.5 million rupees in illegal hundi funds, and registered an FIR (No. 54/2026). In a separate operation, the prime suspect and alleged mastermind—former relationship manager Farhan Hussain—was arrested in Gulshan-e-Maymar. He is accused of illicitly accessing confidential banking details of dormant accounts, particularly targeting overseas NICOP holders, to orchestrate large-scale unauthorized fund transfers. The FIA has reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to dismantling organized financial crimes and safeguarding the national financial system.
