KARACHI: In a landmark operation, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) successfully rescued a 13-year-old girl in Karachi trapped in a dangerous dark web network. According to officials, the young girl was being manipulated through a series of harmful online tasks. The network had initially instructed her to poison a cat, and following that, she was directed to inflict self-harm. Fortunately, NCCIA officers intervened just in time before she could execute the dangerous task and immediately alerted her parents, who were previously completely unaware of their daughter’s high-risk online activities.
NCCIA officials confirmed that an investigation is underway to trace the accounts involved, identify the operatives behind the screen, and determine whether other children across Pakistan are being targeted by this syndicate. Furthermore, Additional Director NCCIA Tariq Nawaz stated that authorities are probing how the minor gained access to the dark web and investigating potential links between the dark web and rising cases of child exploitation. In light of this critical incident, the NCCIA has strongly advised parents to closely monitor and supervise their children’s digital footprint and online activity.
