KARACHI: The Provincial Government of Sindh has officially inaugurated the 2nd Greater Sindh Esports Championship 2026 at Liaquat Library, with Sindh Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and Secretary for Sports Munawar Ali Mahesar presiding over the opening ceremony. Highlighting the vision of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Minister Shah emphasized that empowering youth through sports, technology, and education remains a top priority. The grand championship features over 1,000 participating teams from across the province competing for a lucrative prize pool of PKR 3 million across popular gaming titles like PUBG Mobile, Tekken 8, and FC 27. The tournament roadmap includes qualifying rounds at various Karachi universities, semi-finals hosted in major shopping malls, and a grand finale scheduled for the first week of October at the Karachi Expo Centre. Additionally, the event celebrated athletic excellence by awarding shields to 24 standout boxers, jiu-jitsu athletes, and coaches, reinforcing the government’s continued dedication to upgrading sports infrastructure and nurturing grassroots talent across Sindh.
