KARACHI: A high-profile crackdown in Karachi’s Darakhshan area led to the raid of an organized gambling den, resulting in the arrest of 28 individuals. Following the operation, Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan took immediate notice and suspended SHO Darakhshan, Inspector Rashid Ali, ordering him to report to Garden Headquarters. Preliminary investigations revealed that the illegal den operated under the patronage of local figures—identified as Tariq PTCL, Faizi, and Aamir Policewala—who allegedly extorted millions of rupees daily using various departmental names. In response to the incident, the Karachi police chief has reiterated a zero-tolerance policy against administrative negligence, warning that any involvement or laxity by officers will be met with strict disciplinary action.
