KARACHI: Water Corporation Chairman Barrister Murtaza Wahab officially inaugurated the fully rehabilitated Garden Water Pumping Station, successfully restoring operations after a 21-year hiatus. Originally installed in 2005, the facility had remained non-operational due to a lack of power connectivity from K-Electric.
Valued at a total cost of PKR 30.25 million, the comprehensive overhaul involved extensive civil structure repairs, the complete rewinding and bearing replacement of two 125-horsepower electric motors, and the installation of new motor control boards alongside PVC and LT cabling. Operating via a 24-inch diameter pipeline, the upgraded station will significantly enhance the municipal water supply system for approximately 300,000 citizens. Key localities benefiting from this restoration include Nishtar Road, Garden, Ghass Mandi, Ghanchi Para, Ranchhore Line, Ramswami, Mirza Adam Khan Road, Dhobi Ghat, Lyari, and their surrounding neighborhoods.
