Justice For Mir Raza Family Denounces Judicial Commission Demands Immediate JIT Formation

KARACHI: Advocate Jibran Nasir, representing the family of the late Mir Raza, has officially rejected the Sindh government’s decision to form a judicial commission, demanding instead the formation of a multi-agency Joint Investigation Team (JIT). Addressing the media at the Sindh High Court, Nasir stated that the family has not even received a copy of the government’s decision, nor are the Terms of Reference (ToRs) clear, emphasizing that judicial commissions merely provide findings rather than conducting active criminal investigations.

Highlighting gross negligence in the probe, Nasir questioned why crucial evidence—including final video footage, showroom camera recordings, and details regarding the suspect motorcycle and Alto vehicle—has either been lost or withheld, with no punitive action taken against negligent authorities. The legal team further pointed out that none of their 24 formal inquiries, including requests for geo-fencing data, have been answered, while the previous investigative team faces no public scrutiny or questioning. Consequently, a new petition is being filed in the Sindh High Court to demand a transparent, multi-institutional JIT, as the current investigation and police challan continue to lack direction and nominated suspects.
