Sindh Prosecution Moves to Challenge Anmol alias Pinky’s Acquittal in Drug Cases

KARACHI: The Sindh prosecution has finalized an appeal against the acquittal of alleged drug dealer Anmol, also known as Pinky, in three separate criminal cases. The legal draft has been forwarded to the Prosecutor General of Sindh and relevant authorities for final approval, after which the appeal will be officially filed in the Sindh High Court.

The prosecution’s appeal argues that the Additional District and Sessions Judge (South) delivered the acquittal verdict in extreme haste and in violation of established legal principles. Pointing out severe procedural flaws, the legal challenge notes that charges were framed against the accused on August 13, and upon the accused denying the charges, notices were issued to witnesses and the prosecutor on the very same day. By the evening of August 13, the court abruptly pronounced the acquittal verdict in the absence of both the accused and the prosecutor, without summoning a single witness or allowing the prosecution the mandatory minimum 24-hour window to respond. Consequently, the prosecution has requested the Sindh High Court to declare the trial court’s verdict null and void and to revoke the acquittal of Anmol alias Pinky and the other co-accused.
