Transforming Pakistan’s Supply Chain: The Pipri Multi-Logistics Park Progresses Rapidly

KARACHI: Under the Prime Minister’s Task Force on Maritime Reforms, the construction of the Pipri Multi-Logistics Park is being rapidly expedited to modernize Pakistan’s port and cargo management systems. This strategic PKR 2.46 billion joint venture between the National Logistics Corporation (NLC) and DP World aims to significantly upgrade the country’s supply chain framework. Under the supervision of Project Director NLC Sindh, Engr. Altaf Qadir Bajwa, the project features a dedicated 1.5 km railway link designed to seamlessly connect Port Qasim and Karachi Port.

The state-of-the-art facility will incorporate modern warehouses, container storage, vehicle parking, and administrative blocks. A key highlight of the infrastructure is its massive 37,700 square meter hardstanding area, which is built to accommodate up to 260 containers and heavy trucks simultaneously.

Beyond improving logistics, the project is set to provide major relief to Karachi’s urban traffic. Up-country trailers will be diverted directly to the Pipri hub, allowing cargo to be efficiently transferred to the ports via rail. This strategic shift will streamline port connectivity and drastically reduce gridlock on city roads by removing an estimated 250 to 500 heavy trailers daily.
