KARACHI: K-Electric (KE), the city’s sole power provider, has officially announced the appointment of Syed Taha as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The power utility formally notified the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) of the leadership change through an official correspondence.
Syed Taha will officially take charge of his new role on April 15, 2026. He takes over from Adeeb Ahmad, who had been serving as the Acting CEO of the power utility during the interim period.
Syed Taha is a seasoned executive with a robust track record in the energy sector. He previously served as the Managing Director and CEO of Pakistan State Oil (PSO) since February 2020. This appointment marks a return to familiar grounds, as Taha has also served as the Chief Distribution Officer at K-Electric in the past, giving him deep insight into the city’s energy infrastructure and distribution challenges.
The move is seen as a strategic step to bring in experienced leadership to navigate the evolving energy landscape of Karachi.
