In a major breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Karachi Police successfully dismantled an inter-provincial drug smuggling attempt by arresting a key operative and seizing over 18 kilograms of hashish. Acting on a tip-off, the law enforcement agency conducted a targeted operation in the Eidgah area, which led to the apprehension of the suspect, identified as Imran, son of Ashraf, and the recovery of exactly 18.380 kg of contraband.
During the initial interrogation, the arrested suspect made significant revelations regarding the network’s operations, confessing that he procured the bulk drugs from Zar Khan, a notorious supplier based in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The illicit shipments were systematically smuggled from KP into Karachi, where the suspect served as a primary distributor. He was responsible for supplying the narcotics to local dealers across several major sectors of the city, including Korangi, Landhi, Sohrab Goth, Al-Asif Square, Saddar, and the Old City Area. The SIU has formally registered a case against the accused, and further investigation is currently underway to trace and apprehend the remaining members of the smuggling network.
