KARACHI: The Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) has recorded a massive growth in revenue collection, marking a 41% increase in February 2026 compared to the same period last year. The total collection for the month reached Rs. 34.86 billion, up from Rs. 24.664 billion in February 2025. This was revealed during a performance review meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, which was attended by Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, Principal Secretary Agha Wasif Abbas, Finance Secretary Fayyaz Jatoi, and Chairman SRB Wasif Memon.
The meeting highlighted that the SRB successfully recovered Rs. 9.5 billion in long-standing arrears. Year-to-date figures show that total collections from July to February reached Rs. 225.653 billion, reflecting a 24% increase from the previous year’s Rs. 182.605 billion. Historically, SRB’s annual revenue has skyrocketed from Rs. 25 billion in FY 2011-12 to a landmark Rs. 306.6 billion in FY 2024-25.
Significant contributions came from major sectors including Ports and Terminals with Rs. 40.2 billion, Telecommunications with Rs. 24.2 billion, and Banking with Rs. 20.34 billion. Furthermore, the IT and Software Consultancy sector saw a 49% growth, while the Fund and Asset Management sector debuted in the large taxpayers’ list with a staggering 162% increase. Regional performance was also strong as the Hyderabad Commissionerate collected Rs. 20.9 billion, while the Sukkur and Larkana Commissionerates collectively gathered Rs. 11 billion, showing a 41% rise.
Chairman SRB, Wasif Memon, briefed the meeting that the surge is a direct result of enhanced monitoring and digital integration. SRB has become the first provincial authority in Pakistan to establish a dedicated Intelligence, Investigation, and Prosecution Wing to combat tax fraud and fake invoices. Additionally, a new e-filing system for Agricultural Income Tax has been successfully introduced to streamline the process.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed satisfaction over SRB crossing the Rs. 300 billion mark, calling it a significant milestone for provincial financial autonomy. He stated that the priority remains to increase revenue through transparency and digital reforms without placing additional burdens on existing taxpayers. The CM directed authorities to intensify the crackdown on tax evasion and bring undocumented service providers into the tax net to ensure sustainable economic stability for Sindh.
