Sindh to Fully Digitize Transport Permits and Fitness Certificates by June 2026

KARACHI – In a major move to modernize the provincial transport infrastructure, the Government of Sindh has announced the mandatory digitization of all Route Permits and Vehicle Fitness Certificates across the province. The Sindh Transport and Mass Transit Department has set a firm deadline of June 30, 2026, for the completion of this transition. After this date, all manual documents will be declared null and void.

Key Details of the Initiative

The provincial regulatory system is being shifted to a fully automated digital platform to ensure secure and easy verification of documents. To ensure a smooth transition, field offices have been directed to process at least 1,000 entries per day. Senior Provincial Minister for Transport, Sharjeel Inam Memon, clarified that only digital documents will be legally acceptable after the deadline, and vehicles found operating with manual permits post-June 2026 will face strict legal action.

Why It Matters

According to Minister Sharjeel Memon, this initiative aims to eliminate forgery, as digital records will curb the use of fake permits and certificates. It also promotes ease of business by providing transport owners with access to verifiable online documents, reducing bureaucratic hurdles. This shift is part of a broader strategy to integrate advanced technology into Sindh’s transport sector for better governance.

“Every vehicle owner and transporter will be provided with verifiable, online-accessible documents. This shift will not only provide convenience to the public but also discourage fraudulent practices,” stated Sharjeel Memon.

The Department has instructed all relevant authorities to begin the registration process immediately and ensure that transporters are well-informed to avoid any disruptions as the deadline approaches.
