Sindh Leads in Protecting Agricultural Workers’ Rights, Says CM Murad Ali Shah

KARACHI: On the occasion of International Workers’ Day, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah highlighted Sindh’s pioneering role in labor welfare, stating that it is the first province to provide legal protection to agricultural workers. In a special message issued on May 1, 2026, the Chief Minister paid tribute to the struggle of laborers worldwide, particularly the martyrs of Chicago, and reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to improving the standard of living for the working class through pro-labor policies.

CM Shah emphasized that the Sindh Assembly has passed landmark laws to end the exploitation of laborers, ensuring that the province remains at the forefront of legislative reform. Initiatives like the Benazir Mazdoor Card are currently providing essential social security and support to millions of labor families across the province, while the Chief Minister has directed relevant authorities to ensure strict implementation of the minimum wage law to protect workers’ economic interests.

“The working class is the backbone of our society. From the Thar Coal projects to the industries of Karachi, every wheel of progress turns due to the hard work and determination of our laborers,” Shah remarked. He reiterated that the manifesto of “Roti, Kapra, aur Makaan” is intrinsically linked to the prosperity of the working class. He pledged that the government would continue to enhance education and healthcare facilities for the children of laborers and promote skill development to meet international market standards.

The Chief Minister concluded by stating that industrial peace and economic stability are impossible without the welfare of workers, vowing that their rights will never be compromised under his administration.
