KARACHI: The Sindh government is actively considering proposals to increase the minimum wage and introduce other relief measures in the upcoming provincial budget, according to an official spokesperson.
Aligning with the directives of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, providing maximum relief to the public remains the provincial government’s top priority. The spokesperson emphasized that efforts are underway to maintain strict financial discipline while simultaneously creating fiscal space for public welfare initiatives.
However, the final decision regarding the wage hike will be made after a thorough review of the province’s financial situation and detailed consultations with relevant stakeholders.
Highlighting the historical performance of the administration, the spokesperson noted that the minimum wage in the province has been progressively increased from Rs. 6,000 in 2008 to the current Rs. 40,000.
