KARACHI: The Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) has strongly condemned anti-Muslim statements attributed to US President Donald Trump on social media, expressing deep concern over the use of derogatory language regarding Islam, Muslims, and Iran. In a formal letter addressed to the US Embassy, the legal fraternity highlighted that the legal community has long viewed the United States as a state that upholds constitutional values, democratic institutions, and fundamental human rights.
The SHCBA expressed grave concern over social media posts attributed to the US President, noting that the language used against Muslims and Iran is insulting and inflammatory. The Association pointed out that threats to target Iranian civilian infrastructure are a direct violation of International Humanitarian Law. It was further mentioned that the Geneva Conventions provide explicit protection to civilian installations, and such irresponsible statements are detrimental to global peace and the international legal order.
While welcoming the ceasefire between the US and Iran, the Bar urged US legislative bodies to ensure their constitutional role in matters of war and peace. The SHCBA called upon the United Nations and international human rights organizations to take notice of such irresponsible rhetoric. The letter concluded by urging world leaders to demonstrate responsibility, tolerance, and mutual respect to maintain global harmony.
