FPCCI Delegation Meets IG Sindh, Expresses Satisfaction Over Security Situation

KARACHI: A 17-member high-level delegation from the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), led by Vice President Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, met with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Javed Alam Odho, at the Central Police Office. The meeting focused on the overall law and order situation in the province and security measures specifically tailored for the business and industrial sectors.

During the discussion, the delegation expressed satisfaction with the current security environment. FPCCI Vice President Saquib Fayyaz Magoon noted that the business community is now operating in a much more favorable environment compared to the past. The delegation further highlighted that freight routes through Kandhkot, Shikarpur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and the Kacha areas are now secure for 24/7 transportation. Meanwhile, the President of the Larkana Chamber of Commerce mentioned that business activities in Sukkur and Larkana are thriving following successful police operations, urging the immediate initiation of the “Safe City Project” in these cities. Additionally, the President of the Women Chamber of Commerce Malir requested enhanced security for female traders in markets and specialized mechanisms to resolve their specific issues.

IGP Javed Alam Odho credited all stakeholders for the improvement in law and order, emphasizing that his primary objective upon taking office was to eliminate “No-Go Areas” in the Kacha region. He informed the delegation that approximately 280 dacoits have surrendered to the police since January. He also shared that plans are underway to strengthen the Sindh Police Highway Patrol to further secure the province’s transport arteries. Regarding urban security, over 40,000 CCTV cameras have been installed across Karachi with the cooperation of the business community. To address the concerns of women entrepreneurs, the IGP directed that the Women Protection Cells established at DIG offices be officially tasked with resolving their grievances. The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to continue the collaboration between the police and the business community to ensure a stable economic environment in Sindh.
