KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued a stay order against the deduction of salaries and pensions of teachers, providing significant relief to the provincial education staff. According to details, the court heard a petition challenging the forced recovery and deductions from the monthly emoluments of teaching staff. During the proceedings, the SHC restrained the Finance Department and other relevant authorities from taking further action regarding these deductions until the next hearing.
Key Highlights of the Court Order: The court has issued an interim injunction, halting any forced recovery from teachers’ salaries or pensions. Formal notices have been dispatched to the Education Department and other stakeholders, seeking their response on the matter. The SHC directed that this plea be clubbed with an existing similar petition already under litigation.
The court explicitly maintained that no further forced deductions should be carried out until the case is heard again. This move comes as a major development for the academic community in Sindh, who had been protesting against the Finance Department’s recent recovery measures.
