KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has emphasized the need to prioritize national interests over personal agendas, urging political stakeholders to refrain from politicking on matters of national importance. Speaking to the media at Mazar-e-Quaid, the Mayor stated that collective efforts are essential to solve the country’s challenges. Addressing the constant criticism from political opponents, he remarked that to criticize, one doesn’t need a reason, just a tongue. He added that being in government, it is their duty to endure criticism and stay focused on public service.
Tribute to the Nation’s Defenders
Paying tribute to the pioneers who made Pakistan a nuclear power, the Mayor noted that the nation now breathes in a free state where no enemy dare cast an evil eye. He also lauded the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army in the long-standing war against terrorism, stating that the army and the citizens have given immense sacrifices to uproot anti-social elements. He expressed faith that the day is not far when the country will become a cradle of peace and prosperity.
Urban Development and Infrastructure
Highlighting the ongoing transformation of the city, Mayor Wahab shared that development projects worth over Rs. 100 billion are currently underway across Karachi with strict adherence to transparency. He confirmed that work on the K-IV project is moving forward to address the city’s long-standing water shortage. Furthermore, construction of multiple sports complexes, parks, and playgrounds is in progress to engage the youth in positive activities. The Mayor noted that work on these major projects continued even during Eid holidays, demonstrating the administration’s commitment despite challenges like fluctuating petroleum prices.
Mayor Wahab concluded by reiterating that his top priority remains the development of Karachi and the welfare of its citizens, following the footsteps of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who always put the nation first.
