KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) expressed strong indignation over a heated exchange between legal counsels during a hearing concerning the alleged illegal occupation of 80 acres of land in Kathore, Super Highway.
The Incident During the proceedings, a severe verbal altercation broke out between Advocate Ghulam Akbar Jatoi and the state counsel. The bench, led by Justice Muhammad Saleem Jessar, took strict notice of the unprofessional conduct and the disruptive environment created in the courtroom.
Court Action Despite repeated warnings from the bench, the lawyers reportedly continued their rowdy behavior. In response, the court issued a show-cause notice to Advocate Ghulam Akbar Jatoi and directed the Sindh Bar Council to initiate disciplinary action against the lawyer and submit a detailed report. Additionally, the court extended the stay order on the disputed land until May 4.
Case Background The petition alleges that Advocate Ghulam Akbar Jatoi is involved in the illegal occupation of 80 acres of government land. Conversely, Mr. Jatoi has also filed a counter-lawsuit against government officials regarding the same land dispute. The court reiterated that judicial decorum must be maintained at all costs and that no lawyer is above the law.
