KARACHI – After an eight-day search, the body of a missing businessman was recovered from a locked flat on Abul Hassan Isphahani Road. Investigations have revealed that the victim’s own cousin orchestrated the kidnapping and subsequent murder.
The Disappearance
The victim, Rehan Ahmed, a resident of F.B. Area who traded in laboratory machinery, went missing on April 11. Following his disappearance, a kidnapping case was registered at the Jauharabad Police Station on April 13, on the complaint of his son, Rohan Khan.
Police Investigation and CCTV Leads
The breakthrough in the case came when police analyzed CCTV footage from various locations. The recordings showed Rehan leaving in a vehicle on the evening of April 11 accompanied by his cousin, Syed Faisal Karim.
The Confession
Acting on suspicion, police detained Faisal Karim. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime, revealing a calculated plot. Faisal lured Rehan to a location and handed him over to an accomplice named Ziaullah (alias Najib/Haider). Ziaullah and three to four other accomplices were present at a flat where Rehan was subjected to torture and then confined. After the handover, Faisal claimed he was dropped off at Sohrab Goth bridge, from where he returned to his home in New Karachi.
Recovery of the Body
Based on the suspect’s identification, police raided a locked apartment on Abul Hassan Isphahani Road, where they discovered Rehan’s body. Forensic teams have collected evidence from the scene, and the body has been shifted to a hospital for legal formalities.
Current Status
Police officials confirmed that along with the primary suspect, Faisal, two more accomplices involved in the kidnapping and murder have been arrested. A manhunt is currently underway to apprehend the remaining two to three suspects who are still at large.
