KARACHI: Senior Minister of Sindh for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has launched a scathing critique against MQM leader Mustafa Kamal, accusing him of stoking hatred and division to inherit the legacy of the party’s London-based leadership.
Responding to Kamal’s recent statements, Memon asserted that the politics of hatred and segregation promoted by the MQM has been categorically rejected by the public. He emphasized that attempts to create an urban-rural divide will be met with political defeat, just as they have been in the past, and that false narratives cannot alter ground realities.
Highlighting the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) role as a unifying force, Memon stated that Karachi is the heart of Sindh and the economic lifeline of Pakistan. He condemned critics for attempting to tarnish Karachi’s global reputation and accused them of giving administrative matters a linguistic spin merely to keep their failing politics alive. Memon challenged MQM’s past record, questioning who was historically responsible for target killings, extortion, and terrorizing the youth, while maintaining that Sindh has always been a peaceful home for speakers of diverse languages.
Concluding his statement, Memon reaffirmed that the PPP remains steadfast in its mission to serve the citizens of Sindh without discrimination, fostering peace, progress, and brotherhood rather than engaging in political gimmicks and ethnic polarization.
