KARACHI: A Judicial Magistrate (East) has handed over 24 individuals, including the Chairman of Shah Faisal Town and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Gohar Khattak, to police custody on physical remand in a case involving illegal weapons, attempted murder, and chanting slogans against state institutions.
Court Proceedings The Shah Faisal Police produced the 24 suspects before the court, seeking their physical remand for further investigation. During the hearing, the defense counsel, Mehak Jabeen Advocate, argued that the weapons recovered from the accused were licensed and requested the court to dismiss the case immediately.
The Charges The accused are facing serious charges, including:
- Attempted murder.
- Possession of illegal arms.
- Sloganeering and incitement against state institutions.
Court’s Order After hearing the arguments, the Judicial Magistrate granted the police’s request and remanded the suspects to police custody until January 21.
Furthermore, the defense filed a formal application for the dismissal of the FIR. On this request, the court issued notices to the public prosecutor and other relevant parties to submit their responses.
