KARACHI – On the directives of Additional IG Karachi, Azad Khan, foolproof security arrangements have been finalized across the city for the main procession of Youm-e-Ali (RA) on the 21st of Ramadan.
Under a comprehensive security plan, a total of 5,213 police officers and personnel have been deployed to ensure the safety of the participants. The force includes 19 SSPs and SPs, 53 DSPs, 755 NGOs (Inspectors/Sub-Inspectors), 4,244 Head Constables/Constables, and 142 Lady Police Officers.
Key Security Measures
The Karachi Police have implemented several layers of protection along the main procession routes and entry/exit points. These measures include continuous surveillance via CCTV cameras, route sealing, and the deployment of sharpshooters on high-rise buildings. Increased vigilance through snap checking and the deployment of Quick Response Teams (QRTs) has also been ensured to handle any emergency situation.
Police Chief’s Directives
Additional IG Azad Khan has instructed all officers to perform their duties with the utmost professionalism and diligence. The primary focus remains on maintaining law and order, ensuring the safety of the mourners, and minimizing inconvenience to the general public. Additionally, police contingents have been stationed at major hospitals as a precautionary measure.
