KARACHI – Significant progress has been made regarding the reconstruction of Gul Plaza, the shopping mall on M.A. Jinnah Road recently ravaged by a massive fire. Authorities have signaled a comprehensive recovery plan for the affected traders.
Government Relief Package Speaking to the media, Tanveer Pasta, President of the Gul Plaza Management Committee, revealed that both the Federal and Sindh governments are set to officially announce a formal relief package soon. The initiative aims to compensate shopkeepers for their financial losses and provide a roadmap for business rehabilitation.
Verification Process for Traders To ensure transparency, the Karachi Chamber of Commerce (KCCI) and the Management Committee are jointly drafting proposals. Affected shopkeepers will be provided with a specific proforma/form to record shop sizes and business details. Once these forms are submitted and verified, the government will initiate the assistance process based on the collected data to restore business operations.
Reconstruction Plans Mr. Pasta assured the business community that Gul Plaza would be reconstructed at its original site. Construction will commence immediately following the completion of the ongoing rescue and clearing operations. The President highlighted that the recovery and rebuilding strategy would follow the successful model used during the Bolton Market tragedy to ensure swift and fair restoration for all affected traders.
