Police Clear Muneeb Butt of All Charges in Crypto Kidnapping Probe

KARACHI: In a significant legal development, the Anti-Terrorism Administrative Court (ATC) has declared prominent actor Muneeb Butt innocent in a high-profile short-term kidnapping and cryptocurrency extortion case. The Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) submitted a comprehensive seven-page charge sheet to the court, officially clearing the actor after a thorough investigation. While Muneeb Butt, Mohsin Rajpar, and Abdul Rehman Chandio were previously on bail, police investigations have now formally concluded that Butt has no involvement in the crime. Instead, the police challan has implicated three primary suspects—Shahid Sattar, Wazir Muhammad, and Muhammad Saleem—who are currently under arrest. These suspects are accused of abducting the complainant, Muhammad Mutaal, from Shahrah-e-Faisal and extorting cryptocurrency worth 2.49 million PKR before releasing him in the Korangi Industrial Area. Legal proceedings regarding the detained suspects are currently ongoing in the ATC.
