Pakistan Navy’s PNS Hunain Saves 20 Lives in Dramatic Arabian Sea Operation

KARACHI: In a swift and daring joint operation, the Pakistan Navy (PN) and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) successfully rescued all 20 Pakistani crew members from a sinking cargo vessel in the Arabian Sea. This marks the second successful rescue operation coordinated by the PN and PMSA within the last 24 hours.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the cargo boat named “Al-Hamdan Yaqoob” was en route from Karachi to the Gulf of Oman when it developed a critical emergency approximately 32 nautical miles south of Ormara. The vessel began sinking after its engine room rapidly flooded.

Upon receiving the distress call, the Pakistan Navy immediately launched a search and rescue mission. Despite extremely harsh weather and rough sea conditions, a coordinated task force—comprising the advanced naval ship PNS Hunain, a Sea King helicopter, and a PMSA Defender vessel—intercepted the sinking boat.

Key Highlight: PNS Hunain arrived precisely on time to safely extract all 20 crew members from the rough waters.

All rescued individuals have been moved to safety and are currently receiving immediate first aid and medical care from the Pakistan Navy’s medical teams.
