KARACHI: The Gulbahar Police on Friday foiled an attempted bank robbery and arrested a suspect while he was trying to break open an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) at a private bank.
The Incident According to police officials, the suspect targeted a private bank’s ATM booth within the jurisdiction of Gulbahar Police Station. Using a heavy stone, the individual caused significant damage to the machine’s screen, external body, and the cash drawers in an attempt to retrieve the money.
Timely Action and Investigation Acting on a tip-off, the Gulbahar Police reached the spot and apprehended the culprit red-handed. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the suspect on behalf of the bank’s management. Initial interrogation revealed that the arrested man is a habitual offender with a prior criminal record, having been previously arrested in multiple cases involving motorcycle theft.
Current Status The police have confirmed that the suspect has been handed over to the Investigation Wing for further questioning. Authorities are currently looking into whether he is part of a larger gang specialized in targeting financial institutions.
