KARACHI: The Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) has officially expanded its operational capacity with the induction of a new oil tanker, MT Karachi, into its fleet.
The vessel reached the Karachi Port today, carrying its maiden cargo of crude oil from a Gulf country for the National Refinery Limited (NRL). This marks the tanker’s first arrival in Pakistan following its acquisition.
Key Details of the Acquisition: The oil tanker was purchased for $74 million, bringing the total number of vessels in the PNSC fleet to 13. This induction is part of a broader strategy to enhance the country’s maritime logistics and energy supply chain.
Future Outlook: PNSC sources indicate that the corporation is on a fast track for expansion. Following the arrival of MT Karachi, two more vessels are expected to join the fleet within the next month, further boosting Pakistan’s national shipping capabilities.
